Filmed and set in 1941 during World War II, Bogart plays the hard-drinking and cynical American expatriate Rick Blaine who owns a nightclub in Casablanca, Morocco.
Rick’s world is rocked when his former lover Ilsa (Bergman) enters his club along with her husband and renowned, fugitive Czech Resistance leader, Victor Laszlo asks Rick to help her and Victor get out of the country to escape the Nazis so that her husband can continue his work.
Experiencing bitterness towards the situation, Rick must decide between pursuing love or sacrificing his desires for a higher cause.
With its memorable theme song and countless quotable lines, Casablanca has withstood the test of time, making it one of the most iconic, influential and cherished films in cinema history.
