Charting the highs, lows and youthful hijinks of a year in the high school life of Ridgemont High, Fast Times follows the stories of pizza parlour employee Stacy (Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight) and cinema usher Mark Ratner (Brian Backer, Santa Barbara) amongst its eclectic ensemble, which also includes a young Sean Penn as stoner surfer, Jeff Spicoli.

Having garnered a cult following across its 40 year history, this is an uproarious, often raunchy teen comedy, playfully depicting growing up in 1980s America.

Marking an impressive debut feature for director Amy Heckerling (Clueless), Fast Times sparks thanks to its charming cast and a witty, whip-smart script from Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire).

Fast Times is screening as part of our funky 80s group of films, alongside a John Carpenter Double Bill and Dirty Dancing.

All will be featured here at Tyneside Cinema on 13 Aug and will be followed by a 80s party in our Bar Cafe.

Fancy dress is highly encouraged, so feel free to break out those legwarmers and neon shades when you join us for a boogie!
