Our Relaxed Screenings are aimed primarily at audiences of all ages with autism, learning difficulties and/or other sensory needs and their families.

This heartfelt, feel good drama draws on Mark Twain style adventure stories to weave a sprawling, effortlessly charming buddy movie.

Zak (Zack Gottsagen) is a restless 22 year old with downs syndrome, who runs away from his residential nursing home to pursue his dream of attending wrestling school. On the road he becomes unlikely pals with Tyler (Shia LaBeouff) a small town outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally.

Sweet and highly enjoyable, the film is notable for its positive depiction of a character with Downs Syndrome, played by a disabled actor, who is already being tipped for awards for his compelling performance.

Relaxed screenings take place on the second Sunday of every month at 12pm in the Electra. Tickets are £6 each per person, and carers go free.

What to expect from our Relaxed Screenings:

  • Sound down a little
  • Lights up a little
  • Subtitles or Captioned Subtitles where possible
  • You can move around and make noise during the film
  • The film will start promptly, with no trailers
  • A quiet space made available for all
  • Carers go free

Relaxed screenings are open to all, although due to sensory sensitivities experienced by some of our guests, we do not recommend these screenings for children under two years.
