Stated to be the most expensive Indian film to date, RRR comes as the latest installment from director S.S. Rajamouli who previously stunned audiences with bold and explosive cinematic epics Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
Set in a gorgeously stylistic 1920s mythological India, and part of the respected Telugu film industry, RRR‘s tale of revolt against British colonialism portrays stunning set pieces ranging from terrifying tiger death battles to stunning, grin-inducing dance sequences.
While its larger than life heroes (brought to vivid life by leads N.T. Rama Rao Jr. & Ram Charan), impressive budget and widespread hype will inevitably lead to comparisons with Hollywood Blockbusters, the influence of Indian cinema on the film’s stylistic elements and dramatic approach allows it to stand proud in a league of its own.
Note: RRR will have a 15 minute interval roughly half way through the screening.
