Join us for a screening of Ken Loach’s Sorry We Missed You, followed by a live discussion with representatives of IWGB (Independent Workers Group of Great Britain), the union representing may of the zero-hours contract workers in the UK.
Sorry We Missed You is the latest collaboration between Ken Loach and Paul Laverty, the critically acclaimed duo behind I, Daniel Blake. Returning to Newcastle for their latest masterpiece, the film focuses on the world of zero-hours contracts and their devastating impact on a local family.
Following a screening of the film we will discuss the realities of insecure work, from zero hours contracts to the delivery schedules and conditions faced by those working for the likes of Deliveroo, Sports Direct and Uber, exploring the reality of modern work security.
Contributors include Greg Howard (Secretary of Couriers Branch, IWGB) and others to be announced.
