Narrated by a spirited grandfather (Peter Falk), as he reads a storybook to his grandson, The Princess Bride follows the journey of Westley (Cary Elwes), journeying through a magical land in the quest to save Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright). Along the way, we meet a host of beloved characters, from Mandy Patinkin’s swashbuckling Inigo Montoya to Wallace Shawn’s ‘inconcievable’ Vizzini.
Also chosen by Kirsten from the Operations team as part of the ongoing Team Choice strand, Kirsten says:
“Since the invention of films, there have been some films that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind. The Princess Bride is the rarest of films in that it is absolutely perfect. A fantasy adventure, a breath-taking romance, a story of vengeance and deceit; it is all perfectly written, directed and delivered.
It’s inconceivable that anyone could watch this film and not fall in love with our heroes as they battle foes of all kinds, from rodents of unusual size to the despicable Prince Humperdinck, and prove once and for all that even death cannot stop true love.
Sit back, relax and have fun storming the castle!”
