BFI Fiction Film Academy

If you're aged 16-19 with ambitions to work in the film industry, the BFI Fiction Academy could perfect for you - whether you're interested in production, film journalism or distribution!

What will you do in the BFI Film Academy?

  • Learn how to direct, produce, shoot and edit a short film and enjoy the use of Tyneside Cinema’s state of the art filmmaking facilities 
  • Meet working industry professionals and like-minded young people with a passion for film 
  • Work towards an NCFE Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification, which can count towards entry to College or University 
  • Become part of the BFI Film Academy Alumni Network and gain access to opportunities such as BAFTA mentorships 
  • Share your work at a world premiere event at Tyneside Cinema 

We open up applications around May/June on our website, and we’ll also announce it on our social media. If you’re ready to launch your career in film, we want to hear from you.
