Animation: Old and New

Do you want to learn about the beginnings of cinema, and make early animation devices with your students?
Our Animation: Old and New Workshops are a great way to engage Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 with the Art, Design and ICT curriculum.
Our Animation: Old and New Workshops are a great way to engage Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 with the Art, Design and ICT curriculum.
Throughout the day, we’ll teach your students about the history and principles of animation. They’ll learn about zoetropes, thaumatropes and contemporary stop-frame techniques, such as pixilation and plasticine-animation.
Plasticine-animation is famously known thanks to the works from Aardman Studios (Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep).
All your students will work with stop-frame software and create a short animation using their new skills. Before you return to school, we’ll all watch the movies created together.
