One night in New York City, philosophy student Kathleen (Lili Taylor, The Conjuring) is dragged into an alleyway on her way home from class by Casanova (Annabella Sciorra, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) and bitten on the neck.

Quickly falling ill, she soon realises this isn’t any ordinary disease, and when she develops an aversion to daylight and a thirst for human blood, the truth becomes only too clear. Encountering an ancient vampire (Ferrara regular Christopher Walken) with a taste for existentialist philosophy, Kathleen proceeds to walk the line between death and salvation.

An utterly unique and personal take on the vampire myth, The Addiction was named by critic Peter Bradshaw as his favourite ever film. An uncompromising exploration of addiction, degradation and existence, captured in beautiful grainy black and white on the streets of New York, it represents Abel Ferrara at his raw, intense, intelligent and masterful best.
