A moving, heartfelt gem of British comedy cinema written by and starring Tim Key & Tom Basden, The Ballad of Wallis Island follows the reunion of folk music (and former romantic) partners Herb (Basden) and Nell (Carey Mulligan) on the request of lottery-winning millionaire Charles (Key).

We are thrilled to welcome the brilliant Tim Key to the Tyneside for this very special Q&A screening of one of last year's most beloved gems.

Eccentric lottery winner Charles (Tim Key) dreams of getting his favourite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer, back together. The fantasy becomes real when the bandmates and former lovers agree to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.

Warmly embraced upon its screening as the Surprise film at Glasgow Film Festival, James Griffiths’s sophomore feature is a gentle, wonderfully scored story of reconnection laced with charming humour, housed within the stunning backdrop of the Welsh coastline.
