Adapted by Miriam Battye from Rose Tremain’s acclaimed short story, Extra Geography is the assured feature-length directorial debut of Molly Manners (One Day).
Set at a girls’ boarding school in the North of England, the film stars breakout talents Marni Duggan and Galaxie Clear as Flic and Minna, fifteen-year-old best friends navigating the turbulent waters of adolescence. When the pair hatch a playful scheme to fall in love with their new geography teacher (played by Alice Englert), their intense loyalty is gradually tested by adolescent jealousy, shifting social hierarchies, and mounting rivalry.
Praised for its witty, acutely observed British humour, this sweet and spiky drama offers a wonderfully nuanced portrait of female friendship under pressure.
