Journalist Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) and his wife move into a Hong Kong apartment, but Chow’s spouse is often away on business. Before long, the lonely Chow makes the acquaintance of the alluring neighbor Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung Man-yuk), whose own significant other also seems mysteriously preoccupied.

As the relationship between the two friends grows more complex and entangled, they must confront the reality of their actions and grapple with the ethical dilemmas of unfaithful romance.

Director Wong Kar-Wai’s masterful approach brings this melancholy love story to life among the stunning backdrop of Hong Kong’s smoky ambiance; an intoxicating sense of style and characters who embody simmering passion in a gut wrenchingly authentic fashion.

In the Mood for Love is a heady expression of humanity, friendship and desire which remains as iconic as it is influential.
