In Police Story, Jackie Chan delivered a mind-blowing, high-octane extravaganza full of death-defying stunts and an elegant blending of action and comedy that made him the natural heir to his (self-confessed) inspiration, Buster Keaton. Here, Sergeant Chan Ka-Kui (Chan) is determined to bring down a major crime lord. But in doing so, he risks his career and puts his girlfriend, played with perfect comic timing by Maggie Cheung, in danger.
Continuing from the original, Police Story 2 sees go-it-alone officer Chan Ka-Kui demoted to a lowly traffic cop for his unorthodox policing methods. But it isn’t long before he’s back in action, racing against the clock to stop a band of serial bombers and win back his much-put-upon girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung). With cascading oil drums, collapsing scaffolds, and epic explosions, Police Story 2 features more bravura stunts from Chan and an epic number of injuries for its daring stunt crew. In the process, it somehow manages to top the original.
