Luca Guadagnino's dreamlike William S. Burroughs adaptation is a kaleidoscopic, introspective odyssey, following the trippy search for enlightenment for dishevelled writer Lee (a career-best Daniel Craig) after becoming besotted with the enigmatic young Eugene (a revelatory Drew Starkey) in 50s Mexico City.

Perennially unkempt drifter Lee (Daniel Craig) peruses the woozy nightlife of 50s Mexico City, enamoured by handsome young expat students and locals alongside fellow queer writer Joe (Jason Schwartzman). When his path crosses with that of suave, beguiling discharged Navy serviceman Eugene (Drew Starkey), he becomes instantly transfixed, imagining himself finally finding happiness and contentment with Eugene as his prospective partner.

Combatting addiction and loneliness, the newfound duo embark on a trippy, twisting journey together (encountering an unrecognisable Lesley Manville along the way) in search of the ultimate enlightenment.

Uniting once more with Challengers scribe Justin Kuritzkes, Luca Guadagnino’s triumphant William S. Burroughs adaptation is a hallucinatory, intoxicating and disarmingly moving character study which is as sensual as it is sobering.

Daniel Craig gifts Queer the most stunning, intimately laid-bare performance of his career, whilst relative newcomer Drew Starkey proving revelatory as the transformative subject of his desire.
