The film stars BAFTA-winner Sian Clifford as Lady Isabella Ravenhyde, a fiercely narcissistic aristocrat residing in a cavernous Suffolk mansion, who is utterly consumed by a desperate desire for fame and the spotlight.
To document her “epic journey” toward artistic stardom, which she intends to kickstart by winning Stately Stars, a talent show meant for disadvantaged local children, Isabella dupes Sam (Laurie Kynaston, Derry Girls), a struggling, BAFTA-nominated filmmaker, into recording her every move under the false pretense that the project has been greenlit by Netflix.
However, as the pressures of the competition mount and the reality of her profound isolation sets in, the film takes a brilliantly bizarre turn: Lady Isabella’s hands, and then her entire body, begin to literally turn invisible.
Extravagantly funny yet surprisingly poignant, Lady delivers a biting look at the fragile nature of modern identity and our desperate, universal need to feel seen.
