Cult director Anders Thomas Jensen (Men & Chicken, Riders of Justice) returns with another wickedly eccentric black comedy. The Last Viking reunites Danish heavyweights Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Mads Mikkelsen in a story of sibling rivalry and psychological chaos.
Anker (Kaas) has just finished a 15-year stretch for bank robbery, only to find that his brother Manfred (Mikkelsen), who was supposed to be guarding the loot, has developed dissociative identity disorder.
Specifically, Manfred now believes he is John Lennon. What follows is a bizarre, desperate road trip back to their childhood home as Anker tries to trigger Manfred’s memory. Featuring a plan involving a psychiatrist and a group of patients acting as the other Beatles, the film is a surreal, violent, and hilariously deadpan exploration of trauma and brotherhood that only Jensen could deliver.
