Enjoy the start of your happily ever after in truly cinematic, Art Deco style! All our screens are licensed for Weddings and Civil Ceremonies, so whether you are looking for a simple and beautiful ceremony or something more adventurous incorporating film and music, our fantastic Events Team will create the perfect Wedding Day for you.
Steeped in cultural history, the Tyneside Cinema has held a place in the heart of the region for over eighty years. As the last surviving Newsreel Theatre still operating as a cinema in the UK, the building is an important, nationally recognised site of heritage, lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 Art Deco design.
Many of the wonderful couples that have had their weddings at Tyneside Cinema have been coming here for years; Some even had their first dates here! Many also choose to incorporate film into their ceremony, with the option to work with an editor to create a memorable montage of famous scenes from your favourite films to kick the ceremony off in epic cinematic style.
Our Weddings package is reassuringly uncomplicated; We are available to hire for just the ceremony if you wish, and we are as flexible as possible so you can pick the perfect date and time for you. After the ceremony we can provide drinks and canapes served in the screen with your guests while you have photos taken. We can also provide the all-important popcorn to complete the look, so you can be sure that your big day will be a cinematic treasure to be remembered.
Our imaginative, dedicated Events Team can’t wait to create a memorable and special event for you and your guests that you won’t find anywhere else.

I have been absolutely inundated with messages from my hen ‘crew’ saying what a fantastic time they had and how fabulous the venue and experience was. Clichéd as it sounds (given we screened Dirty Dancing) I really did have the time of my life.
