Eternal You is not science fiction. This is happening right now. Could immortalising the dead to provide comfort in grief become the biggest business yet of the digital age?
Join DeadGoodFilmClub for a screening of Eternal You followed by a panel discussion hosted by Digital Death researcher Dr. Georgina Robinson of Durham University, with guests including journalist and author Chris Stokel Walker, trauma expert Dr. Jo Bell from the Death Online Research Network and Sumantha Abrams, owner of the award-winning Seven Penny Meadow natural burial ground.
This screening takes place as part of the 2024 Festival of Social Science in collaboration with Northumbria University.
DeadGoodFilmClub hosts screenings and events about death and dying to encourage conversations around topics often considered taboo. Expect great films, fascinating discussions and revealing insights from people working in areas as diverse as health care, undertaking, public services and the creative communities.
Curated by Newcastle-based producer and funeral celebrant Andy Jones, DeadGoodFilmClub was devised in partnership with Newcastle’s ‘Death Positive Library’, Tyneside Cinema and Northumbria University.
A pre-screening workshop will take place at Newcastle City Library from 4pm. To reserve a place, please book here.
