A fond favourite for those who love yuletide hijinks, Joe Dante’s Gremlins is undoubtedly one of the most iconic horror comedies to come out of the 80s, and that’s saying something. The adorable mogwai Gizmo has been melting hearts since 1984 alongside his devious offspring who sow terror and mayhem across the quaint town of Kingston Falls on Christmas Eve.
Brought to life through impressive puppetry and stop motion, the mogwai embody chaotic energy and provide a wealth of dark humour in their escapades. If they show up at Tyneside Cinema be careful not to encourage them by throwing popcorn or (especially) water back at them, as we cannot be held responsible for the actions of these mischievous critters.
